Treasuring time for me is my childhood, the friendship in childhood is unforgetable, dey ar 4eva.
My design is for children, as they made a new friend, they can add one on their friendship tree. so in the end as they look back, they've got this huge tree full of 'friends', with their friends name and details, e.g birthday, phone number...etc

Bad Design
To be able to use the pen, you need to twist the top off. I did an experiment and found out that 100% of the users who used this pen for the first time, attempt to pull the top out straight away, but all failed, including myself.
The problem here is that the pen does not have any outstanding sign of the unusual way of openning the top, even though there is some hints as I circled in the photo on the right, but still can't tell the top has to be twisted off. This wasted the users time, twisting on and off, but still have its advantage for keeping the ink.
Suggestions:
1. lable an twisting arrow, or the direction of the first move
OR
2. print out or laser "twist to open"

DESIGNING DREAM MACHINES
By following the development of three project designs, a modernised classic motorcycle, a motor scooter suited to conditions in India, and a futuristic range of interchangeable kitchen appliances. I learnt a lot about the design process from this vedio, such as, design brief, prototype, evaluation etc. As a designer, we have to work with others as a designing team, discusting ideas, drawing concepts, and showing to others then repeating thoes process again till the final product is made.

Task 5 : Video Reflections - part 5 (week8)
my major take home message for this week was from Annie Leonards's 5 steps of the linear system, I notist that all products human manufacted have bad influence to the environment.
As resources and materials are very important for our design process, we should be carefull when we chossing materials, think about our environment.

Onion Chopper
No more tears and no more onion smell on your hands, my improved onion chopper has this rubbering 'rose' handle, which gives user a nice grip, and at the same time it can be a decoration in the kitchen, when friends come surprise them with it!
4 pleasures analysis:
physio-pleasure
by pushing the 'rose' handle up and down, cut onion into pieces

Task 5 : Video Reflections - part 4 Paul Bennet
"Small is the big new" was the main take home message, which tells me that designers need to be looking at little simple things in our everyday life, to put ourself in the customers' 'shoes', looking from their point of views, so then we can creat usefull good designs, a good example can be showen by the nurses' design.

Task 5 : Video Reflections - part 3
Yves Behar - Creating objects that tell stories
My major take home message was Yves Behar is a designer who designs from the inside out, brings his own value into the design and changed the world, this can be shown by XO laptop.
To creats more personal connection to the product, Yves design the Swaroviski Chandelier that can change into different shapes by user moving his/her finger, so this brings up a talking point. therefore, not only designing the skings for the product, but also the inside and how it involves the users, that is quite different to my understanding of design before.
In the future, we need to be designers that mainly focus on consumers' experience of using the product, not just designing products that make values , but have a personality and maybe one day our design can change the world.

Task 5 : Video Reflections - part 2
My major "take-home message" was that by using patterns only nature creates, Ross Lovegrove got his ideas and made lots of dramatic designs.
My opinion about design changed, before I thought by learning from others design produces we make our own, but in fact, that won't bring any differences or great success. Also flashy colour, unique shape, is not importand than just to be nature, but usefull and comfortable. So by introducing us his designs, Ross Lovegrove showed how beatiful and powerfull organic design can be.
The video suggests for my growth as an industrial designer I need to look for new ideas in the nature, from the very basic , not to copy others but believe in myself.

Task 5 : Video Reflections - part 1
David Kelley: Human centred design
My major "take-home message" was the concept of "human centred design". My opinion about design changed, because modern designers not just forcus on their own products, how things look from the outside or high technical objects, but need to be well served to the users. So to make the consumer's life brilliant, designers won't communicate their ideas through 3D modles anymore, they get the objects to have emotion, behaviour and personality, showing how their products can be used by filming internal video productions. David Kelley showed six internal video productions, how designer made the liquid crystal changing room with a 3 second delay function. The idea of making the cubicle more human, when you leave home the flower gets weak as it's showing disappointing, but when you come back it gets well means happy to see you. Therefore the finished product made the creator said : "Life wil be sweet in a cubicle like this."
The video suggests for my growth as an industrial designer I need to remember it is human centred design, and how thousands of water drops became one huge waterfall, then produces out one product, it means that designers need to work with others and it is more about the enjoyable design process.

Task 2: Good Design
Enttex P100
The Enttex P100 has been developed as an easy-to-use and cost-effective device to give relief to patients with Meniere's disease. It is simple and elegant, alternative to current large and heavy devices, its slim hand-held design allows users to carry the device in their pocket and does not rely on electricity to operate, so the user can apply treatment whenever the need arises. The Enttex P100 has been designed with operator ergonomics top-of-mind to encourage users to lead a more normal life.
The Enttex P100 is a breakthrough device for use in alleviating the symptoms of inner-ear conditions. Inner-ear problems are often characterized by attacks of vertigo, hearing loss and tinnitus. for example, when we are in the plane, it helps to relieve the pain caused by disturbance in the ear's balance. Press the centre diaphragm with your thumb to pump air pressure pulses. Regulated air pressure is then applied to the ear. The specially designed valve prevents the user from producing excessive pressure so that a safe pressre level is applied at all times. Whilst no cure has been identified to date, evidence shows that positive pressure pulse therapies can be offered to most sufferers. Its wrap around pressure tube and earpiece storage, with a smooth protective cover provides a safe and attractive alternative to current bulky therapy units. Additionally, the device has been designed to ensure only the correct amount of pressure is delivered to the inner ear, preventing negative pressure excursions and overpressure conditions.
Line: curving lines, no edges
Value: By using white, the lightest value, it gaves user a sense of weightless and easy to carry
around.
Colour: The use of blue and white indicates sky, because this product can be useful on the
plane. Orange and blue attracts attention for different material used, all together made
the whole product more profesional and reliable
Rhythm: relaxing, calm

Task1:Shape of a Scent
The first feeling I had for this scent is quite strong, it's like you wake up in the morning and open the window, full of freshness and with the brightest sunshine. But as later on I quite like this smell, it makes people relax and when I close my eyes I can see a young laddy who's full of optimistic, wearing a long white and green dress dancing in a flower garden. So this is why I made it curly and smooth, it repersents female. the one on the left is like a floating silk, but the one on the right may be a girl who just wake up in the morning, lift her arms up trying to hug the sunshine, the fresh air and everything within the nature.
